What is the difference between 0800 and 0808 numbers?
0800 numbers were the first range of numbers designated to be used for free phone in the UK. However, these numbers have been popular and have effectively run out for a large number of suppliers.
Ofcom therefore designated a new range 0808 for free phone use. There is no difference with operating an 0808 number except that some companies prefer to use 0800 numbers since these were the first range and customers are familiar with them.
